Better in the Backseat: the 2019 Subaru Ascent Strikes a New Path for Rear Entertainment Options

Family vehicles have been offering backseat entertainment system options for a long time, giving the kids something to do for the ride and giving the parents up front a little more time to relax. However, where most vehicles would provide a fold-down screen from the headliner or screens set in the back of the front seats' headrests, the 2019 Subaru Ascent believes you deserve a little more freedom with your rear entertainment.

Specifically, with the Subaru Starlink Entertainment Anywhere kit, the automaker has decided to ditch stationary screens and instead provide two 9.7-inch 32GB iPads with Wi-Fi - wrapped in protective OtterBox Defender cases for safety - and two pairs of Harman Kardon Bluetooth headphones.

This kit will cost $970 and will be shipped directly to your home in eco-friendly packaging, so you don't even need to worry about a thing. To give you an idea of how great a deal this is, the Chevy Traverse's rear-seat entertainment system costs nearly a grand more at $1,750. And, best of all, you can take the iPads out of the Ascent with you, so rear-seat entertainment becomes - like the kit's name suggests - anywhere entertainment.
