2018 Subaru WRX STI Offers Plenty to Be Excited About, Says US News & World Report

Sportster upstarts like Ford Focus RS, Honda Civic Type R, and Volkswagen Golf R, be warned. The Subaru WRX STI is back for 2018, refreshed, and more athletic than ever. It's "everyone’s favorite stock rally car," says the global product news, rankings, and review expert, with a special callout for the Subaru sports car being "the epitome of pro handling on almost any road." So what can we expect from the new 2018 WRX STI iteration?

More than a few mods and improvements to scintillate our inner performance drivers, to be sure. Iconic STI badging to accent a new front bumper and grille slung low is just the beginning.

Count on the new WRX STI from Subaru to bear literal witness to the "Confidence in Motion" moniker for 2018, with a more energetic 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine showcasing 305 horses under the hood as well as a stiffer suspension and standard all-wheel drive to adrenalize an already well-controlled thrill-ride. US News & World Report even nods to the promise of enhanced handling precision, as 2018 Subaru WRX STI will feature sizable 19-inch wheels and the stopping power of Brembo brakes in striking yellow, both standard. Factor in steering-responsive LED headlights for day-and-night visibility around corners and brackets for an optional roof rack to accommodate gear, and your roadster comes ready for the road trip.

The interior of the new WRX STI promises the comfort of high-quality materials with all the ultrasuede and leather trimmings to take the drive to the next level, too. Recaro seats are optional, but put pedal to the metal in a 2018 WRX STI Limited, and they come standard. Cabin customization by way of dual-zone automatic climate control, metrics at a glance via a 3.5-inch gauge display, a six-way manual driver’s seat, and a shifter wrapped in leather are all shine on the proverbial chrome. The sports car frame's even engirded in improved insulation for peace and quiet along the way.

But that doesn't mean the new 2018 WRX STI can't make a little noise when you need it. US News & World Report documents a six-speaker sound system flanking a 7-inch STARLINK Multimedia Plus infotainment, the latter incorporating HD and satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming tech, and Pandora, iHeart Radio, and Aha compatibility – making plenty of listening options for the excursion. Take along your smartphone or Apple iPod, too, as you can jack in and rock out thanks to USB connectivity.

There's even more happening at Subaru. Keep an eye out for a Subaru WRX STI Type RA limited minting in early 2018. It just crushed a lap record on the Nurburgring circuit, clocking in at 6 minutes, 57.5 seconds. Plus, there's talk coming down the pipe of a Subaru WRX and WRX STI coming redesigned for 2020, from engine to design. In the meantime, you're welcome to indulge your inner Formula 1 driver with a Subaru WRX test drive here at Sellers Subaru. We're right around the corner in Macomb, MI, here at 23651 Hall Rd.!
